Amazon Online India maintained its leadership as the top advertiser in 2024, while Google saw a notable decline, dropping from fourth place in 2023 to ninth, according to a report by TAM AdEx. More than 155,000 advertisers were active on digital platforms this year, with Amazon. In securing a 3% share of ad impressions among the top 10 brands. Additionally, four new entrants made their way into the leading brand rankings, including two under Amazon Online India. Following closely are Karma Shopping and Flipkart.com, each with a 2% share. Samsung India Electronics and Maruti Suzuki India both hold a 1% share, tied for fourth place. Other notable names in the top ten include Home Interior Designs E-Commerce, Reliance Retail, Exness Global, Google, and Serum Institute of India, all with 1% of the total digital ad impressions.

Digital ad impressions surged 12.7 times in 2024 compared to 2020. The growth trend was also evident in previous years, with 2022 and 2023 witnessing 9.5-fold and 11.9-fold increases, respectively. Compared to 2023, ad impressions in 2024 rose by 7%, reinforcing the digital medium’s dominance. In quarterly trends, Q2 of 2024 recorded a 9% growth over Q1, showcasing a strong upward trajectory.

The report also revealed stability among top advertising sectors, with Services and four other industries retaining their positions from 2023. Personal Healthcare and Telecom Products emerged as new entrants, securing the eighth and ninth spots, respectively. The top two sectors alone accounted for more than 55% of all digital ad impressions. Among categories, “Ecom-Other Services” led with a 12% share, while Cellular Phones-Smart Phones was the only new entrant in the top 10. Collectively, these categories contributed 45% of digital ad impressions.

 
The study also noted a significant rise in exclusive digital advertisers, with over 100,000 brands opting for digital-first advertising in 2024. Coroot Inc emerged as the top exclusive advertiser of the year. In terms of platforms, Twitter Display led with 33% of total digital ad impressions, followed by In-App Display at 18%. Programmatic advertising dominated the landscape, accounting for 88% of all digital ad impressions, while the Ad Network method held a 4% share. Regarding ad formats, Single Image Ads captured the highest impressions (55%), followed by Video Ads at 23%.
